The truth is however, that dressage is for every breed and and excellent background for other disciplines. Through proper conditioning the horse will develop more self-carriage and balance. He will learn to properly lengthen and shorten his stride. A jumper, for example, will greatly benefit from a well-balanced horse that is able to control its stride length between fences. Even if you ride just for pleasure you will be able to enjoy your horse much more if it is in balance and reacts to just a light aid. No matter what your goal is, horse and rider can achieve maximum harmony through dressage.
